About Me

I am a first year Bioinformatics and Systems Biology (BISB) Ph.D. student at Dr. Elizabeth Winzeler's Laboratory from University of California, San Diego. Member of the Malaria Drug Accelerator (MALDA) consortium.

I received a B.S. in Computer Science at Autonomous University of Baja California, Mexico and also received a M.S. degree in Bioinformatics at The University of Texas at El Paso.
While studying my master's I constructed a pipeline to get insight into the differential gene expression using Illumina RNA-seq data. My current research, as part of the MalDA team, involves the use of Bio/Chemoinformatics tools to support the work in drug targets and resistance mechanisms identification aiming to discover novel therapeutics for the treatment of malaria.

In my free time, I like to read novels, and go to the gym. I also like to travel and go camping.
